Harvest Time

We decided to get our first batch of pumpkins out of our pumpkin patch this weekend.  I was amazed at how well they did this year.  We have taken a few years off.  The last year we did it, Braeden and I were out there every day watering them.  We got like 2 pumpkins that year.

This spring when we were at Kristin’s house in New Jersey, she gave us some seeds from Kourtney’s pumpkin last fall.  I was skeptical, but with very minimal care they really grew.

Here are a few pics….

Liam, I think you might need a bigger bucket!

And decorating the porch, we will turn them into jack-o-lanterns later on , too early right now.

Bridges

frankenmuthbridge

Liam loves bridges and is becoming obsessed with bridges.  I found a book called Bridges from my teaching days.  He now knows the Golden Gate Bridge, London Bridge (aka Tower Bridge), Brooklyn Bridge, Angel Bridge (Sant’ Angelo), Sydney Bridge….well you get the point.  There was a covered bridge with a big long name so my mom just told him it was the Frankenmuth Bridge (a nearby bridge).

Anyway, we had another nice fall day today, so we headed up to Frankenmuth.  We walked across the bridge and rode across the bridge over a dozen times.  Then we headed over to Riverplace and after coming out of the bathroom we stumbled upon the local Renaissance Festival royalty.  Brenna’s eyes got really big and started saying “princess, princess, princess!”  Of course that drew them right over to us.  He asked Brenna if she would like to be a princess and she just froze up.  He said she wasn’t a princess unless she had jewelry and gave her a ring.  Then he asked Liam if he wanted to be a pirate, and he was pretty froze up too, I think they didn’t know what to make of them.  It was cute though.

We went across the bridge again and there was a fine art festival we they headed to McDonalds play area.  They have only been to a McDonalds play area once and they were way too little for it.  This one was really clean and nice and Liam and Braeden enjoyed the slides while Brenna preferred to stay on the ground playing with Legos.

As we headed for home, Liam made one more request for the bridge so we headed back one more time and headed home.

We ended the summer with several different gatherings that have been keeping us busy, but this week Braeden went back to school. We still have half day kg here, so first grade is his first all day experience. He has been excited and really likes his teacher. It is really weird when he is gone and the babies are napping. So quiet, naptime was our time, now he doesn't get home until 4:15 and that is when things get wild around here. Trying to get the little ones in bed and having special time with him the last 30 minutes before he goes to bed is really hard, but making a point to do it, its the only time when he is getting one on one undivided attention. Usually he does have a hard time adjusting to the first week, but today is Friday and no news is good news, right??? And here is a blast from the past....first day three years ago mommy 15 weeks preggo
